Huskies stumble in tournament rematch with Seward

Seward did it again. For the second time in as many weeks, the Aurora boys basketball team had no answer for the Bluejays as Seward took down the top-seeded Huskies 49-33 in the semifinals of the Central Conference tournament Thursday in Seward’s home gym.

Storm boys down Merdian for first CRC tourney win since ’16

All three area boys teams have been eliminated from the Crossroads Conference Basketball Tournament in York, with High Plains falling to No. 1 seed Osceola in second-round action Monday while Hampton and Gitlner both lost their openers on Saturday.

Hornets battle through tough stretch of rated opponents

Giltner had a tough task last week, taking on three teams, all of which are listed in the Class D rankings and have a combined six losses.  The middle of those three games was Friday night, as Giltner welcomed Class D2 No. 7 Osceola to town.

Husky offense shines in pair of road wins

Aurora began the week with a renewed sense of urgency and determination. It showed on the floor.  The Huskies extended its win streak to five with a dominant 57-21 victory over Hastings Jan. 11 as well as a come-from-behind 57-50 win at Elkhorn North Saturday.

HPC Storm hold off fourth quarter Hampton rally

Three scoring rallies in the second half told the story in an area matchup last week.  High Plains carried a 28-17 second half edge over Hampton to pick up a 52-43 win in Polk Thursday night.

Lady Storm hold off Hampton late

Hailey Lindburg helped carry her team to a win while not once coming out of the game.  A bit shorthanded, High Plains outlasted Hampton 40-35 in an area matchup Thursday night in Polk.

Lady Huskies show aggressive nature against Titan front

Aurora went into its final contest before the holiday break at Norris with nothing to lose and everything to gain. It was the exact opposite for Class B No. 2 Norris.  The Lady Huskies played like it, too.

Scoring drought dooms Hawks in holiday tourney

Hampton certainly didn’t show signs of rust early on in its first game back from the five-day moratorium.  The final eight minutes, though, were a whole different story.
