Can Care-A-Van exceeds collection goal

The Hamilton County Food Pantry (HCFP) saw a strong turnout during the 39th annual Can Care-A-Van last Tuesday. After seven hours of volunteers collecting donations from local organizations and individuals, the food pantry had collected 24,502 pounds of non-perishable foods.

Council approves undercrossing study

The Aurora City Council initiated a design study last week to explore the possibility and cost of installing an undercrossing on Highway 34 near the swimming pool in the area of 12th and 13th streets.

Fireworks will be returning to Aurora with a bang this year as the beloved Fourth of July event returns to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds on Thursday, July 2, with the show to begin at 10 p.m.The fireworks display was discontinued in 2024 due to the cost of organizing the event.

Less than four years after being elected as Hamilton County’s first full-time county attorney in a number of years, Douglas Dexter is stepping down early next Month.

Housing surge continues

Momentum continues to build on the Aurora housing front, with new single-family homes and duplexes adding much-needed inventory, much of it in the new Streeter Subdivision which is revamping the landscape on the community’s western edge.

MPT Auto Service opens near Aurora’s downtown square

Two friends with a shared interest in automobiles, customer service and owning their own business made their partnership more official earlier this month, launching MPT Auto Service just off the downtown square in Aurora.

Courthouse project moves toward hoped for summer completion

People coming in from out of town for A’ROR’N Days this week will no doubt notice big changes have taken place over the last year at the 131-year-old Hamilton County Courthouse on the square.
