Slow starts have been an issue at times for the Aurora volleyball team. They’ve more often than not been able to clutch up late in sets. Last week’s solo matchup at Grand Island Central Catholic featured anything but slow starts as the Huskies swept the Crusaders on the road, 25-18, 25-13 and 29-27.
Aurora senior Delainey Phillips earned medalist honors at both Friday’s Central Conference meet, as well as Monday’s C-1 District, helping her team qualify for next week’s 2-day state tournament at North Platte.

Giltner’s offense put up 50 points in three quarters, but couldn’t get the one defensive stop it needed.The Hornets were in an offensive shootout Thursday night as Grand Island Lutheran defended its home grass on Homecoming night, 62-50.

The first weekend of October was tough sledding for Hamilton County football teams. Only one of the four teams came out on the right side of play by the end of Friday night.That was the Aurora Huskies, who despite a slow start moved to 6-0 on the season with a 27-10 win over Hastings Friday.

Giltner continued a string of success last week, adding two more wins to its total before a much-needed reset.The Hornets played a perfect triangular, defeating Axtell 25-20 and 28-26 before downing Harvard 25-19 and 25-16, improving its season record to 7-4 as September nears conclusion.
