Seward did it again.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Aurora boys basketball team had no answer for the Bluejays as Seward took down the top-seeded Huskies 49-33 in the semifinals of the Central Conference tournament Thursday in Seward’s home gym.
Aurora coach Kevin Asher explained after the game that the Huskies had what they were looking for -- they just didn’t convert those opportunities into points.
“We got the exact looks we wanted inside,” Asher pointed out. “We have to shoot better inside. The shooting comes down to finishing better around the rim.”
Coming off a 47-34 loss to Seward at home Jan. 21, the Huskies started Thursday’s tournament game with a 7-1 run in the opening minutes with five points from Tate Nachtigal.
Seward responded with back-to-back three-pointers as part of a 12-0 run, taking an 11-7 lead after the opening quarter and a 13-7 lead early in the second.
