Big-ticket items coming to 4R school

Kicking off the 4R board meeting with good news, Aurora High School principal Doug Kittle announced that three Huskies had made it to the National Merit Scholar Finalists round. These three individuals are Preston Ramaekers, Elena Kuehner and Caden Carlson.
Following up on a conversation from July of 2021, 4R board members had an action item on the agenda Monday concerning the proposed Aurora Community Field House.

School counseling staff at the 4R district is taking steps ahead with digital class registration, and updated professional titles, just in time for National School Counseling Week. Together, Aurora’s counseling staff includes, from left, Michelle Sutter (HS counseling administrative assistant), Emily Hoegh (district mental health therapist), Erlinda Amen (elementary school counselor), Barb Bonifas (high school counselor), Jake Willems (high school counselor) and Angie Moural (middle school counselor).

Things are changing for students at Aurora High School thanks to a little leg work done by school counselor Jacob Willems and the rest of the counseling staff. The age-old task of registering for next year’s classes just got a whole lot easier.

Rylee Olsen isn’t Aurora’s top option from behind the arc. Sometimes, though, the clutch gene outweighs everything else.  The Aurora senior swished a three from the top of the key with 43 seconds left to help the Lady Huskies take down Lexington 42-39 Saturday at home.

Huskies find shooting touch

Carsen Staehr’s efforts Saturday may be proof of Aurora’s recent offensive woes clearly in the rear-view mirror.  Staehr had a career day, bagging 27 points on nine of 12 shooting while going a perfect six of six from three-point range as the Huskies downed Lexington 72-50 on its home floor.

Kaylee Crosby has come a long way from hosting her own track meets as a young athlete, dreaming of the big stage.  The Aurora senior has been to Omaha Burke and done well against the state’s best. Now, she has an opportunity to compete at the next level.

Aurora Speech Invite welcomes familiar faces

The Aurora Speech Invitational was hosted Saturday, seeing more than a dozen schools from across Nebraska. Teams from Aurora, Giltner, Hampton and High Plains were caught in action doing what they do best. For full results from the Aurora team, please see this week's print or e-edition.
