Kicking off the 4R board meeting with good news, Aurora High School principal Doug Kittle announced that three Huskies had made it to the National Merit Scholar Finalists round. These three individuals are Preston Ramaekers, Elena Kuehner and Caden Carlson.
Following that, the first few agenda items for the 4R board included big ticket refresh projects such as updating the lighting setup and system for the football field/track area and resurfacing the middle school gym floor.
Aurora Supt. Jody Phillips reported the district received two bids, one from Qualite Sports Lighting, LLC., and one from MUSCO Lighting.
“It was actually a little bit difficult getting multiple bids, as one company pretty much dominates the market right now,” Phillips said. “But as you can see in those attachments, you have Musco who is purchasing supplies and materials through a nationwide cooperative for $227,000, and then there were three bids for installation within that bid. Ensley Electric was the low bid for that at $61,705. So the MUSCO bid in total was $288,705.”
Qualite’s bid included supplies and materials for $209,000, though they did not bid out the installation as the company is not licensed in Nebraska.
“They have the package, which is the different light sequences, for $33,500,” Phillips added, “which is not yet in production, so their total was $242,000 without installation.”
