Olsen swishes final dagger
Lady Huskies rally to defeat Lexington at home, 42-39
Rylee Olsen isn’t Aurora’s top option from behind the arc. Sometimes, though, the clutch gene outweighs everything else.
The Aurora senior swished a three from the top of the key with 43 seconds left to help the Lady Huskies take down Lexington 42-39 Saturday at home.
Aurora coach Kelly Boshart was happy to see Olsen find an opening, adding that she has plenty of faith in the senior to make that shot if given enough space.
“She has shot those during games before and can be hit or miss, so it was good to see that one get knocked down for her,” Boshart mentioned. “Those are shots that probably don’t go our way in late December but they’re starting to fall.”
The Lady Huskies trailed by two starting the fourth quarter as a Denae Nachtigal shot made it 33-32 with 4:21 left.
Aurora was in a tight spot with multiple players sporting four fouls in the fourth quarter and another with three, making decisions difficult for Boshart.
“We had to play smart,” Boshart said. “I was happy with how our team played defensively while also being able to get up and pressure. That took a whole team effort.”
