Storm split action at Cross County

The High Plains volleyball team found itself in a slugfest Saturday morning only to come out the other side winners.  The Storm went 2-2 at Saturday’s Cross County tournament, defeating East Butler and Nebraska Lutheran while dropping games to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and the host Cougars.

Lady Huskies finish strong at Central City Invite

The Lady Husky runners found themselves in a familiar spot, again finishing runner-up at the Central City Invite on the Valley View Golf Course Thursday.

Central City edges Lady Huskies, 2-0

Aurora and Class C No. 7 Central City made quick work of its Thursday night matchup.  With the threat of rain and two dominant pitchers, the Huskies and Bison completed its seven-inning battle in a shade under 90 minutes as Central City came out ahead on its home field, 2-0.

Area football roundup Week 4

Aurora knocked off another unbeaten while High Plains played spoiler to Giltner's Homecoming night for a wild week four of the high school football season.  Class C1 No. 1 Aurora didn't mess around Friday night, putting away previously unbeaten Platteview early.

Giltner started the season 0-6 and just needed some confidence. At least that’s what coach Jamey Eastman said two weeks ago.

Aurora’s volleyball team waited nearly two full weeks for its first home game and sure made the most of the opportunity.  With a loud environment, displaying its new uniforms and fresh new paint on the court, the Lady Huskies swept Holdrege Sept. 6, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-14.

Hampton was missing two starters for the opening quarter for disciplinary reasons and spotted Sterling 24 points on the scoreboard.

Breaking up is hard

Sigh. This is hard.  Scott Frost was hired as Nebraska’s new head football coach on a sunny Saturday in December of 2017. It was a dream hire, one nearly every Nebraska fan, media member and booster put full support behind.  My excitement was palpable.

Lady Huskies medal three at home invite

Friday's weather conditions provided a perfect day for a run, and Aurora's girls cross country team made the most of it.  The Lady Huskies finished second as a team, two points out of first, including three medalists at its home invite Friday from Poco Creek Golf Course.
