Aurora loses late lead to Lexington

It was quite the up and down week for the Aurora girls soccer team.  The Lady Huskies went 2-2 over a four-game stretch, but there was also a feeling of “what could have been.” Aurora began the week April 20 with a 4-0 road win at Seward before dropping an overtime contest at home against Lexington.

Area tracksters compete at High Plains Invite last week

For the first time this season, the area trio of Giltner, Hampton and High Plains were all in action at the same place at the same time.  The Hornets, Hawks and Storm competed at the High Plains Invite hosted at Osceola’s track April 14 with several solid performances all around.

Huskies finish 4th as conference hosts

A solid start to the Central Conference tournament was offset by a few bumps in the road.  The Huskies won its opening round matchup to make the semifinals, but lost matches to York and Schuyler to finish fourth in a weekend tournament played in Aurora.

Moving on towards a bright, and hopefully relaxing future, Carol Schuster will be retiring in her position as a speech pathologist at Aurora Elementary School at the end of this school year.

Home cooking puts Huskies back on track

The Aurora boys soccer team got back on track with three games in a four-day stretch, winning two of the three.  The Huskies dropped a 4-0 game to Kearney Catholic April 6 before defeating Crete 2-1 Thursday and York 3-2 in overtime for a makeup game.

Mother Nature threw everything it could at those competing at the Broken Bow Invite Friday.  The temperatures dipped around 40 and below, the wind howled at upwards of 30 mph and the rain came off and on throughout the event.
