The Aurora Cooperative Juniors team battled hard through three games in a two-day stretch over the weekend.

A new event is set to kick off in Aurora Sunday to celebrate Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community in the form of a pride march followed by a drag show. Organizers Beaux Mason, Evan Rose and Dakota Russell spoke on the events of the day and the impact they are hoping it has on the community.

Learning the game

The Aurora golf coaching staff held a youth golf clinic last week at Poco Creek to get youngsters introduced and hopefully spurn a love for the game at the same time. Campers learned the basics of the game, including putting, chipping and several drills to practice with.

Juniors can’t hold late lead over York

The sixth inning was the game-defining moment for York and the Aurora Cooperative Juniors squads at Mitchell Field June 8.  York posted a five-run sixth inning to take the lead and eventually hang on for a 7-5 win over the Aurora Cooperative Juniors team.

Visitors to the Aurora Public Schools website may find it looking a little different than it has in years past. The district did in fact approve this upgrade and with it tackled a whole new approach to communication, complete with a mobile app.

Smith dazzles on the mound in Juniors victory

Connor Smith had himself a highlight day on the mound for the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors squad.  Smith threw a complete seven-inning game and nearly pitched a shutout as Aurora defeated St. Paul 6-1 on the road June 1.

Phillips fans 11 in Seniors’ first win

A near-perfect effort on the bump from Cayden Phillips was a big help for the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors in its first win last week.  Phillips tossed a complete game as Aurora defeated St. Paul 13-0 June 1 as the Pinnacle Bank Seniors won its first game of the season.

Heart statue returns with all new look

The Hamilton Community Foundation and Aurora High School art students have teamed up to redecorate one of the heart statues that was previously located outside of the Alice M. Farr Library. The new painted design was created by the students and has been named “Depots at Dawn.

A celebration initially planned for 2020 is back on track and gaining momentum as the community prepares to honor the 125th anniversary and history of the iconic Hamilton County Courthouse.
