Phillips fans 11 in Seniors’ first win

A near-perfect effort on the bump from Cayden Phillips was a big help for the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors in its first win last week.
Phillips tossed a complete game as Aurora defeated St. Paul 13-0 June 1 as the Pinnacle Bank Seniors won its first game of the season.
Along with his five shutout innings on the mound, Phillips allowed just two hits while fanning 11 and just one walk on 83 total pitches.
According to Pinnacle Bank Seniors coach Jeremy Burgener, a big factor in Phillips’ success on the mound is his ability to mix fastballs and off-speed pitches.
“Cayden had great command of all of his pitches throughout the night and it showed in his strikeout total,” Burgener noted. “He was able to turn it up with a fastball up in the zone and then break off a curveball down and away. At this level when you can have command like that good things happen.”
