Bennington topples Aurora in final

Mack Owens took several moments to himself following the final whistle Monday night.  The Aurora senior co-captain fell just short of the ultimate goal for himself and the Huskies -- winning a state championship.

Five Aurora veterans receive Quilt of Valor honors

Tying all of the symbolism of Veterans Day and the program at Aurora High School together, five area veterans were presented with their very own Quilt of Valor courtesy of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild and the Hamilton Community Foundation.
Omaha Skutt quarterback Caden Becker was met at the goal line by several Husky defenders, including Mack Owens, Britton Kemling and Tate Nachtigal. Aurora had the last laugh, defeating the SkyHawks 21-17 after trailing by 10 in the fourth quarter. Back to the finals In order to make a return trip to the Class B finals, the Husky football team depended on a pair of huge plays from basketball players as first-year seniors.  Preston Ramaekers and Tate Nachtigal didn’t play a year ago, but were huge factors in Aurora extending its season.

Huskies set for rematch with Bennington

Aurora coach Kyle Peterson made a promise to his players following an 0-2 start and a loss to Bennington. If they put their nose down, continued to get better and completely bought in, the Huskies would still be playing in late November and have another shot at the Badgers.

Aurora honors area veterans Thursday

The Aurora Public Schools Veterans Day program was called to order bright and early Thursday morning with words from American Legion member Ron Paider.  “On behalf of American Legion Post 42 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4993, I call to order this Veterans Day program,” Paider began.

Huskies have date with Skutt

A smile came across Aurora coach Kyle Peterson’s face Friday night when he heard of the Huskies’ opponent in the Class B semifinals.  Omaha Skutt is coming west. Aurora will host Omaha Skutt Friday with a trip to Memorial Stadium in the Class B finals on the line starting with a 7 p.m. kick.
