Lady Huskies down Dukes for first time in seven years

Not even Mother Nature herself could keep Aurora from adding to its impressive start to the season.  Aurora trailed at York 8-6 and was just stepping to the plate to start the sixth when the skies opened up.

A fingertip away

Aurora christened its new field turf in traditional Husky aggressiveness -- a game-opening onside kick.  From there, the fight only continued to intensify with explosive plays and mountainous momentum swings.

Boerkircher brothers relish first on-field experience

Nebraska’s win Saturday over FCS Fordham will be long forgotten by many. While it was a much-needed win for a confidence-starved group, it just won’t register for most fans.  However, Nebraska’s 52-7 win over Fordham will be remembered for a long time by the Boerkircher brothers.

Former Huskies take Big Red reps

A trio of former Aurora standouts each found the field for the Nebraska football team Saturday.  Austin Allen alongside brothers Ian and Nate Boerkircher each saw playing time in the Huskers' 52-7 win against Fordham Saturday in Nebraska's home-opener.

Friday night roundup week 2

A pair of area teams notched first wins of the season on a picture-perfect Friday for football.  High Plains and Hampton picked up wins and each moved to 1-1 on the season while Aurora and Giltner each lost, falling to 0-2.

Aurora survives York in five

Feeding on its home crowd during Homecoming week, the end result was sweet for Aurora.  The Lady Huskies rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat York in five sets, 25-17, 17-25, 27-29, 25-20 and 15-6 Thursday night. The fourth set was tooth and nail until Aurora scored six of eight to lead 17-12.

Timely contact lifts Aurora past Centennial

Offense at the right time and another gem on the mound helped Aurora to its fourth home win in five tries.  The Lady Huskies defeated Centennial 6-1 at home Tuesday night after building an early lead and never looking back.

Hornets lose track of Huskies in season opener

Coming into the season, Giltner wanted to change its identity to more of a smash-mouth, hard-hitting football team.  The Hornets had opportunities Friday night, but too many mistakes and mental errors set Giltner behind the 8-ball in a 52-14 loss to Heartland on its home field.

Slow start costly in Huskies’ opener

After a slow start in the season opener, the Aurora Huskies scored two touchdowns just before the half and looked poised to battle North Platte to the finish Friday before a costly turnover put the momentum back on the host Bulldogs sidelines for good.
