The 2021 Aurora softball season will be one to remember years down the line for a variety of reasons.
The team’s 21-12 record was its best in more than a decade and the 21 wins were the program’s second best in school history. Aurora’s 2008 team, the last team to make the state tournament, has the best with a 23-9 mark.
A number of season and career records fell in 2021 as the Lady Huskies qualified for its first district final since the format change of subdistricts and a best-of-three final.
As part of Aurora’s new additions to the record book, Taryn McKinney and Rylee Olsen had a big hand in that.
The senior duo each hit two home runs in a single game, setting a new school mark as the first players to ever hit two homers in one game for Aurora.
McKinney also broke the RBI single season record with 37, breaking coach Ashton Voss’ old record of 35 from 2008.
