Lady Huskies finish 4th at conference

Things never really bounced Aurora’s way Monday.  Aurora’s girls soccer team battled to a pair of losses to Lexington and Columbus Lakeview, rounding out the Central Conference tournament played at Northwest’s facility.

Huskies run wild at windy Broken Bow Invite

The wind was still howling, but the Aurora tracksters used some of that to their advantage at Friday’s Broken Bow Invite. The Husky boys team turned in several gold medal efforts to finish tied for runner-up with 83 points, just behind McCook at 124 and knotted up with the host team, Broken Bow.

Soccer was a challenge in more ways than one for Aurora last week. The Huskies looked good at times, and other times not in a 6-1 loss to Kearney Catholic at home April 5 while its other game against Crete was wiped away because of the huge wind gusts blowing through.

Lady Huskies shutout in loss to KC Stars

Aurora coach Micayla Dunn pointed out the struggles the Lady Huskies had against the Stars came in a variety of ways, noting that it was tough to get anything going in the right direction. “The Kearney Catholic game was one of the those games that we didn’t bring our best,” Dunn said.

Taryn McKinney has always had fun playing in the softball diamond dirt, pitching heaters and hitting dingers.  She’s always done so with a determined look on her face. That look was more of a smile Thursday as she made her college choice official.

Cauy Walters has enjoyed playing a variety of sports over his young life. It wasn’t until more recently, though, that golf became the dominant sport for him.  Now after several years on Aurora’s varsity lineup, the senior Husky now has a future in a college golf lineup.

Jividen set to take wrestling skills to Concordia U

Aaron Jividen made it official last week, announcing his plans to continue his wrestling career as a Bulldog at Concordia University. The Aurora senior recently wrapped up a stellar athletic career wearing Husky red, though he actually had a decision to make whether to pursue wrestling or football.

Maddie Krejci didn’t really take golf too seriously before entering high school four years ago.  The Aurora senior wasn’t really considering going to Peru State College after high school just a few months ago, either.

Former area athletes work out for NFL teams

It’s a practice facility Austin Allen has become quite familiar with. Corey Hoelck, on the other hand, not so much.  Yet, for a short time March 22, the former Hamilton County standout athletes were shoulder to shoulder, showing off for NFL scouts at the Hawks Championship Center.
Although it was delayed a few days, the High Plains track team got its first outdoor session in the books at the Merrick County Invite Saturday hosted by Central City.

Although it was delayed a few days, the High Plains track team got its first outdoor session in the books at the Merrick County Invite Saturday hosted by Central City.  The meet was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed to Saturday because of weather.
