The Aurora boys cross country team got off on the right foot at the Grand Island Northwest Tornado Hill course with a solid team effort and third place individual finish in the 5K gold division race.
Coach Tony Sigler stated that the first meet of the year was a good way to see where the team stands going into the rest of the season.
“It’s just kind of nice to get that first one under the belt,” Sigler said. “You get to blow off the cobwebs, so to speak, and kind of see where people are at compared to last year. To see what they did or if the summer made a difference; kind of see where the freshmen are.”
Junior Lucas Gautier placed third with a time of 18:08 for Aurora, the highest individual finisher for the Huskies.
