Aurora’s girls cross country squad had four medalists bolting their way to the top 15, making for a strong finish for the Lady Huskies at the C-4 District championships near Hastings.  The Lady Huskies also took the runner-up position in total team scores, finishing behind Minden, 23 to 28.

The Lady Husky runners found themselves in a familiar spot, again finishing runner-up at the Central City Invite on the Valley View Golf Course Thursday.

Aurora Adopt-A-Pet makes sure local cats are ‘feline’ fine The cats and kittens at Aurora Adopt-A-Pet animal shelter have room to stretch more than their claws thanks to a second enclosure inside and a soon to be added “cat-io” outside area.

The Aurora boys cross country team ran against a wide field of teams across multiple classes on Thursday at Concordia University in Seward and went on to have a pair of medalists in Minden Saturday.
Some of the artwork that will be displayed in the Plainsman Museum from Aug. 30 to Sept. 30 as part of Impact Nebraska Artists ‘Color of Music-Rhythm of Art’. Left to right: “Mozart’s Summer Orchestra” by Jerene Kruse made of fused glass, “Lyrical Cadence” by Beth R. Jasnoch made of metal, “Symphonic Connection” by Ken Hosmer which is a watercolor painting and “Concerto to a Grand Adventure” by Jana Van Housen which is an assemblage made, in part, from a violin from a Goodwill.

Impact Nebraska Artists to debut exhibit at Plainsman Museum The Plainsman museum will feature the first ever Impact Nebraska Artists exhibition in Aurora starting Aug. 30 and lasting until Sept. 30.

Aurora fire training center ensures ‘everyone goes home’ The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department has been hard at work, training to keep both themselves and their community safe.  Though not always faced with situations they can predict, it’s important to be ready for it.
