Aurora’s girls cross country squad had four medalists bolting their way to the top 15, making for a strong finish for the Lady Huskies at the C-4 District championships near Hastings.
The Lady Huskies also took the runner-up position in total team scores, finishing behind Minden, 23 to 28.
The A-team’s performance was noted by Aurora coach Tony Sigler, though he still emphasized the need for improvement by the team to be in contention for state next week.
“They did about how I thought they would,” Sigler said. “I’m proud of the girls, again, they extended their season a week just like the boys and that’s really the most important thing about this race. But again, we have a lot of things we need to fix. The way I look at it is my job isn’t done until Oct. 21. After practice, I still have work to do. And so I hope that they still take that approach, too, because there’s still a lot to gain.”
