Drew Knust had himself a night Friday.  The Aurora QB1 rushed for five touchdowns and added a sixth passing score as the Huskies downed Lincoln Christian 48-28 to advance to the Class C1 semifinals.

Aurora left everything on the floor in a do-or-die match last week.  The Lady Huskies had match point in the fourth and fifth sets, but could not convert the final score as Columbus Lakeview rallied to beat Aurora in five, 25-19, 23-25, 21-25, 26-24, 17-15 to win the C1-7 subdistrict tournament.

Area football playoffs round one

Aurora and Hampton opened a second football season -- the playoffs -- Friday night with varying results.  The top-seeded Huskies in Class C1 took care of business in the opening round, defeating Scotus Central Catholic 43-13 at home.

The Lady Huskies showed their first-year head coach just how much this team has grown this season in the opening round of C1-7 subdistrict action, eeking out a close first-set win, coming from behind in the second set and closing out the sweep over David City to advance.

HPC Storm sweep Nebraska Lutheran in D2-2 subdistrict

High Plains was victorious Monday night in the D2-2 subdistrict semifinals, but had its home fans sweating it out for a minute or two.  The Lady Storm took down Nebraska Lutheran in three, 25-13, 25-23 and 25-22 in its home gym, setting up a third clash with Exeter-Milligan Tuesday night.
