Kaitlyn Staehr’s first official jump at Burke Stadium was one to remember.The Aurora freshman threw down the gauntlet early with a 36-9.75 to take an early lead in the final flight of the Class B triple jump Thursday. Entering finals, Staehr sat in the second position.

HPC Storm sending eight to state track meet

The High Plains track team found success all season long in its relay events and those will be well-represented this week in Omaha.The Storm qualified two of its three boys relay teams, including a new school record during May 14’s D-2 district meet in Osceola.

The team race at Friday’s Central Conference golf meet was a huge log jam.Behind Adam Central’s 303 team victory and Crete’s runner-up effort of 317, Seward, Lakeview, Aurora and York were separated by three strokes at Jackrabbit Run in Grand Island to make up the top five.
