A great start to the NSAA state wrestling championships turned the other direction by the end of the evening for High Plains.
The Storm went a perfect 4-for-4 in the opening round of the tournament, but only one would win their quarterfinal matchup.

Aurora put three wrestlers into Friday night's semifinal round after Thursday's opening rounds of the Class B NSAA state wrestling championships.

Aurora's wrestling team pushed 10 wrestlers through the finals in both the boys and girls brackets.
Seven of those won gold.
The Husky boys finished runner-up while the girls team finished third at Saturday's Central Conference meet held at Columbus Lakeview.

The Aurora junior scrambled for a third period pinfall victory as part of Aurora's dual matchup at Columbus Lakeview Thursday, an event the Vikings won 40-34.

For the first time in school history, a crop of Aurora girls wrestlers competed at Columbus Lakeview Friday, starting a new tradition at AHS.
The Lady Huskies finished second in the team race behind the host Lakeview Vikings in a five-team tournament.

The Aurora junior ran through and past Scottsbluff's defense, tying Aurora's single-game school record for rushing yards with 285 on 29 carries and four touchdowns as Aurora defeated Scottsbluff, 34-14 Friday night in the Class B quarterfinals.
