Aurora put three wrestlers into Friday night's semifinal round after Thursday's opening rounds of the Class B NSAA state wrestling championships.

Brekyn Papineau, Mack Owens and Aaron Jividen all earned medal positions with their efforts Thursday, each winning a pair of matchups.

Papineau picked up a second period pinfall over Keagyn Linden of York before grinding out a 7-2 decision over Josiah Mobley of Scottsbluff in the quarterfinals. Papineau is set for one final trip through the state semifinals, hopeful for his first finals appearance. The Aurora senior will take on Gering's Jacob Awiszus Friday night for a spot in the 182 finals.

Owens looked comfortable all morning, earning two major decisions over Sebastien Boyle of Scottsbluff and Oaklyn Smith of Hastings. Owens is looking for a return trip to the finals and will take on Waverly's Wyatt Fanning for that spot at 195 Friday night.

Jividen had the most exciting match of the morning for the Huskies. The Aurora senior's undefeated mark was in trouble against Broken Bow's Sawyer Bumgarner. The duo went through several extra overtime sessions before Jividen scored the winning escape in the ultimate tiebreaker. Jividen is also looking for his first finals appearance at heavyweight and will take on York's Kadence Velde for that opportunity Friday night.

Karsten Hohm, Jack Spiehs, Colin Kennedy and Britton Kemling all lost opening round matchups and will be back in the consolation rounds Friday morning.
