Second half push too much for Aurora to overcome

The Lady Huskies showed flashes on opening night of what could be during the 2020-21 season. However, those flashes didn’t come frequently enough.  Aurora opened the season on the road Thursday night, ending up on the wrong end of a 56-38 score to Adams Central.

Smith, Hornets begin season 2-0

Giltner’s offense scored more points in the opening half against High Plains than it did the entire game the night before at Harvard.  Nevertheless, the Hornets began the season 2-0 with a pair of road victories.

Just two weeks after competing in their respective state football championships, Aurora and Adams Central's boys basketball teams met in a season-opening matchup that included hot three-point shooting and tough defense in the paint.

Mack Alspaugh has no problem tucking away his coaches whistle and jumping into practice with his players. He’s been there and done it before.  Surely if someone like Brianna Wilshusen can get a shot off in the lane or a rebound over her head coach, it should be a fun season for HPC basketball.

Aurora comes up short in Class B finals

A momentum shift began late in the first half and carried through the early stages of the third quarter to decide Friday's Class B final.  Elkhorn held Aurora out of the end zone to end the first half, keeping the game tied at 13.

Success has followed Cassidy Knust through every avenue she’s traveled athletically at Aurora.  Despite all of the success, however, there was only one sport she was interested in pursuing collegiately -- volleyball.  The Aurora senior made her college decision official Nov.

Husky defense to the rescue

With the game and its season on the line, Aurora’s defensive lineup answered the call.  Two fourth quarter interceptions helped push the host Huskies past Plattsmouth 21-12 in the Class B semifinals Friday night, setting up a clash with Elkhorn in the finals.
