Competition picked up in a big way for the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors team.After just four games in two weeks, the Aurora Pinnacle Bank Seniors played five games in six days, including a three-day tournament in York.

Pinnacle Bank Seniors slide to first win of season

The Aurora Pinnacle Bank Post 42 Seniors team scored its first win of the season in a big way last week.Behind a strong pitching effort from Dane Comer and a three-hit performance from Jace Dorsey, Aurora routed Kearney Jersey’s Seniors 17-2 May 29 from Mitchell Field.

The nerves on the first tee box at Scottsbluff Country Club were palpable for Luke Grosshans.Those nerves didn’t slow the Aurora junior down too much, though, finishing tied for 28th in his first Class B state golf tournament May 21-22.

Aurora Legion teams kick off summer campaign

Rain played havoc with the start of the Aurora Post 42 Legion baseball season.The home opener for the Aurora Cooperative Juniors and Pinnacle Bank Seniors team was washed out May 21 and even put its second game May 22 in serious doubt due to field conditions.

The strength of the High Plains track team all season long has been its relay efforts and that was on full display for a statewide audience over the weekend.

The High Plains boys track team set themselves up for a huge party in Omaha this weekend. The Storm is sending 11 athletes, nine of them on the boys side to the state track and field championships after a powerful showing at the D-2 district meet in Osceola.
