A total of six accidents were reported this week by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Aurora Police Department.
On Tuesday, Veken Yousif of Glendale, Calif., was westbound on Interstate 80 when an animal entered the roadway.

Phillips community holds fundraiser for Sorgenfrei famil

Family and friends from around Nebraska gathered at the Phillips Memorial Hall on Aug. 5 to enjoy some root beer floats and support the Sorgenfrei family.
Coleton Sorgenfrei, a recent Aurora High School graduate, was in a motorcycle accident on July 1 and is currently recovering from his injuries.

High Plains board prepares to reopen school

The High Plains Community Schools Board of Education met in Clarks Monday to finalize plans for in-person classes beginning this month.
“The board approved the reopening plan and we posted it on the website and on social media,” Supt. Brian Tonniges explained. “We have a detailed tiered plan.

PPRI elevator installed

A 10-year effort to plan and build the Prairie Plains Resource Institute’s new education center on the edge of Gjerloff Prairie is making major progress this summer. In recent weeks, an elevator was installed, which is a required element in order to allow easy access to all levels of the facility.

Hampton Cruise Night back for 19th year

A nearly 20-year tradition will return to Hampton Friday with the return of the TDLC Cruise Night.
Now in its 19th year, the event will feature classic cars, a free meal and some good oldfashioned hometown hospitality, as designed by event organizer Roger Bamesberger.

‘Pack ‘em Back to School’ preps students for new year
