4R budget boosts spending $861,841

The 4R school board sat down Monday afternoon to discuss and approve its 2020-21 fiscal year budget, and did so adopting an operating budget of $21,307,562, up $861,841 (4 percent) from the previous year.
Also approved, the tax asking for the Aurora School District has increased 5 percent from last year’s asking of 0.8259 to this year’s approved tax levy of .8633. The levy will now stand at 86.33 cents per $100 valuation.
In part of a presentation made by Aurora Supt. Jody Phillips, he noted that the years of 2018-19 and 2019-20 sat relatively the same at over $16 million in actual (or approximated) disbursements, where 2020-21 was budgeted at $19.2 million.
