60 Years Ago – 1960 M. Sgt. Harold E. Wanek is representing the United States Army in the 1960 National Rifle and Pistol Matches, the “World Series” of competitive marksmanship. Sgt. Wanek is presently on duty with the United States Army Advanced Marksmanship unit from Fort Benning, Ga.

The new JoJo’s Gelato building on Highway 34 is home to two different eateries as of Saturday, with Coasters Coffee Co. returning to the business scene in a shared facility arrangement.

County’s net taxable, vehicle sales both down some in April

The Nebraska Department of Revenue reported that Hamilton County’s motor vehicle sales dropped significantly in April while net taxable sales were down slightly during what proved to be the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic.

Three area golfers spent last week on the course in one of Nebraska’s highlight golf tournaments of the summer. Aurora natives Caleb Badura, Alex Kubik and Ethan Shaw were all competitors in the 112th Nebraska Amateur played at Happy Hollow Golf Club in Omaha.

A large crowd converged in Stockham Saturday evening for the 42nd annual community barbecue. Event organizer Berdon Kliewer said attendance was down some this year despite the evening’s perfect weather, due in large part, he surmised, to pandemic concerns.
