Nature Conservancy works to create water for people, nature

The Nature Conservancy welcomed communities recently to gather online to learn about the importance of water for both nature and people. Helping to share their mission was water and agriculture program manager, Jacob Fritton.

A panel that ranged from organic farmers to prairie experts gathered online during the Grain Place’s annual field day to share changes and information covering the landscape of organic farming and agriculture in Nebraska.

Crop Update: Grateful to see how corn ears in wind damaged fields were able to expand and expose silks to pollen! Noticing on the primary ear node one normal ear and another one to two small ears on the same node in some hybrids-more common this year than I’ve noticed before.

As the corn grows taller and the days get hotter a familiar sight can be found in the fields surrounding Hamilton County -- detasselers. Not even a pandemic can stop these students from working to do their part in the cycle of production.
