Locally invented, grasshopper plow changed plains ag

Nestled alongside the Plainsman Museum’s full-size sod house is a rather unassuming and somewhat complicated looking piece of pioneer machinery. Little to most know that this “grasshopper plow” was invented right here in Hamilton County by a gentleman named George L.

Tomato fruit issues, what to look for

As tomatoes ripen, a few odd fruit issues arise. These include growth cracks, zippering, catfacing, yellow shoulders and blotchy ripening. All interesting names but not much fun to encounter on a tomato. Cracks in tomatoes near the stem are growth cracks.

The highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America is that of Eagle Scout. Since its creation in 1911 only four percent of scouts have earned this rank and joining them will be Colin Kennedy of Troop 28 in Aurora.

Fair, rust, spidermites, corn tipback

Fair: As fairs wrapped up in the area, in my opinion, it was a great way to cap off the summer for the youth. So much has been taken away from them and I really appreciate Ag Societies working hard with Extension staff to give the youth an opportunity to showcase their projects!
