Huskies misfire in late-game loss to Grand Island Northwest

Over the course of its five-game win streak, Aurora has excelled on money downs and late-game situations. Grand Island Northwest bested Aurora Friday at its own game.  The Vikings made the short 30-minute trip across the Platte and used a late-game touchdown to defeat the Huskies 36-29 Friday night.

Darbro competes in 3rd state golf meet out west

Lady Huskies take runner-up at district meet in Minden

The Aurora girls cross country team walked away as runner-ups at the C-4 District Meet in Minden Thursday. Only five points separated the runners from the top position as they secured their place at  Friday’s state competition in Kearney.

A balanced attack with plenty of road warriors was all the Aurora volleyball team needed Thursday night in Hastings.  The Lady Huskies shared the ball and fed off its visiting crowd energy, picking up a four-set win over the Tigers, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-19.

Darbro qualifies for state tourney

As if she didn’t have enough to fret about already, Riley Darbro played the final few holes of the B-3 district meet at Jackrabbit Run into a gusting headwind.

Though Monday’s 4R school board meeting was brief, it included a discussion and comments from administration and Supt. Jody Phillips on the district’s recent transition into its “yellow phase” of COVID-19 operation plans.

Huskies beat McCook in rivalry renewed

The Aurora-McCook rivalry was dusted off Friday night and with only one shot at it, the Husky seniors made it their own.  Solid offensive execution alongside timely defensive stops lifted the Huskies over McCook in Bisonville 21-7 in a top 10 matchup.

Lady Huskies take fifth at conference meet in Holdrege

Riley Darbro claimed a medal and the Lady Huskies finished fifth in conference golf action Friday at the Holdrege Country Club. It was the second trip to Holdrege in a week for the Aurora girls, though the team wasn’t able to play quite as well with conference competition on the line.
