Hornets battle through tough stretch of rated opponents

Giltner had a tough task last week, taking on three teams, all of which are listed in the Class D rankings and have a combined six losses.  The middle of those three games was Friday night, as Giltner welcomed Class D2 No. 7 Osceola to town.

Giltner school set to add agriculture program

Giltner’s search for a full-time agriculture and science teacher is officially underway with full support from its school board.  Monday’s regular meeting featured discussion about advertising for a new full-time ag teacher, something that’s been discussed for several months.  Supt.

The DAM game was something else.  Giltner’s volleyball team took the floor for one final time in 2021, but the opponent on the other side of the net was quite the authoritative figure.  The players call them Mom.

Giltner celebrates local veterans on Marine’s birthday

Nov. 10 was a special day in Giltner for a variety of reasons.  The school held its fourth annual Veterans Day program with a myriad of vets and students alike gathered to honor those who served.

High Plains ends Giltner’s season at D2-3 subdistricts

HPC’s march toward a potential first-ever trip to the state volleyball tournament started off nearly perfect Monday night.  The Lady Storm made quick work of Giltner, defeating the Hornets in three sets 25-19, 25-9 and 25-20 at home to start the D2-3 subdistrict tournament.
Students Jax Wiesen, Hailey Eastman and Logan McKay helped serve the meals. Ryan Nickerson with CPI was on-scene during the meal as well as FBLA sponsor Jackie Hinrichs.

As harvest rolls along, members of the Giltner FBLA team have rallied for the third year to show their support to area farmers. On Oct. 12, members served meals from the Giltner CPI building to share their thanks.

Giltner school to pay any staff quarantined with COVID-19 virus

The Giltner School Board voted unanimously Monday to create a policy whereby all employees will receive full pay if they are required to quarantine by school directive because they have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed to the virus and are showing symptoms. Supt.

Lady Hornets pick up big win on championship night

On a night where Giltner honored its champions, the current Hornet volleyball team rose to the challenge.  After a slow start, Giltner charged ahead to defeat conference foe Nebraska Lutheran in four, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20 Thursday night.
