Giltner celebrates past state title teams during home win

Body

On a night where Giltner honored its champions, the current Hornet volleyball team rose to the challenge.
After a slow start, Giltner charged ahead to defeat conference foe Nebraska Lutheran in four, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20 Thursday night.
As part of the 50th anniversary of the Nebraska state volleyball championships, Giltner welcomed back members of their seven state championship volleyball teams from 1984, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2008, 2013 and 2014.
Giltner coach Jeanie Good noted that with the extra fanfare in the gym Thursday, the Lady Hornets were fired up to play -- maybe a little too fired up early on.
“We just had to settle down,” Good noted. “With the crowd and festivities tonight, we came out a little nervous and tight. We start slow sometimes, too. I figured we’d get going eventually and that’s a good Nebraska Lutheran team.”
