It was only a matter of time for Jayden Slagle and all of the pieces fell together Thursday in Grand Island.The Husky senior broke the Aurora school triple jump record during the Grand Island Northwest Dave Gee Invite, leaping to a new statewide best mark of 48-2.

Aurora’s Jordyn Slagle made a big jump up the Husky all-time list Thursday in Gothenburg.On a sun-splashed, windy afternoon, Slagle won the 400 meter dash during Thursday’s Dutch Zorn Invite, doing so in a new personal best time of 59.11, the first time she’s ran sub-60 in a Husky uniform.

Nate Boerkircher is a bit hit and miss with checking his phone on the regular. He’ll have an extra set of eyes on the dial this weekend if necessary.The former Aurora Husky is hopeful for one of the most important phone calls of his life days from now, though he has no idea when or if it will ring.

The H&H Bearcats were hunting plenty of new personal bests at its home invitational last week.In all, the Bearcats tallied 28 new PRs in Henderson April 14 as the H&H boys team won its home event to highlight the afternoon.The Bearcat boys crossed the 100-point plateau with 103.

It was a chaotic 10 minutes for Stella Peterson around lunch time in Broken Bow. The Aurora freshman ended up second in the 100 meter dash to Kearney Catholic’s Hazel Haarberg, running a 13.05 to Haarberg’s 12.10.

Alex Dick came up clutch for the Huskies in the penalty area.Twice against Kearney Catholic, Aurora called upon the Aurora sophomore to come through on a penalty kick. Those two successful kicks were the difference as Aurora downed the Stars 2-1 April 7 in Aurora.

Dylan Ronnau tossed a gem for the Husky baseball team Monday afternoon.The Aurora sophomore threw a complete game shutout as the Huskies defeated Fairbury 3-0 in a triangular that included Central City. It wasn’t as successful there as Central City downed Aurora 12-0 in Monday’s finale.
Canon Allen set another Aurora soccer record last week, scoring five goals in the Huskies’ 7-0 home win over Lakeview Thursday. The five goals breaks a previous single-match school record held by three different former Huskies.
