Huskies compete at Norris Monday

Despite a delay by much-needed rainfall, the Husky track teams competed at the Norris Invite Monday, its second opportunity to compete outdoors as the calendar flips to April.

Lady Huskies fall in two conference matchups last week

After a 10-day hiatus, the Aurora girls soccer team returned to the pitch for a pair of conference matchups last week.The Lady Huskies were unable to find the win column, though, losing at Northwest 5-0 March 31 before a 4-0 loss to Columbus Lakeview at home Thursday.

Cash Garrett banked a huge reward Friday in Seward.The Aurora sophomore turned in an even-par round of 70 during the Huskies’ season-opener in Seward, winning his first high school golf tournament by four shots over the field.

Russell slings new Husky discus record

A record that once seemed untouchable has been broken for a second time in a four-year stretch. Derek Russell, a newcomer to Aurora’s track team as a junior who competed at Kimball  his first two seasons, broke Aurora’s discus record during Friday’s home invite.
Nevada Gloystein won the 110 high hurdles during last week’s Sutton Invite for the Bearcats, doing so in a time of 17.17. He also won the 300 hurdles at 43.76, both of which setting new PRs.

Bearcats open outdoor season at Sutton

The H&H Bearcats stepped outside for the first time March 24, competing just down the road in Sutton for its opening outdoor event.The first-year Bearcats had a solid outing as coach Stephanie Buzek mentioned the team tallied 24 personal records between the boys and girls teams during the event.

The Aurora girls soccer team kicked off its 10th season in a big way Thursday afternoon.Underneath a sweltering rare March heat wave, the Lady Huskies picked up a 1-0 win over Schuyler to mark its first win of the season.

The Aurora boys soccer team had a tough opening night draw, hosting the defending Class B champion Schuyler Warriors.The Huskies made Schuyler work for it early before the flood gates opened as the Warriors left A-Town with a 5-0 win Thursday.

Kyler Luebbe’s pass catching days may be over, but he’s not done yet playing the game he loves most.The Hampton senior signed with Hastings College March 3 to join the Hastings College football program next fall with an opportunity to give the 11-man variety of the game a chance.

Talking Nebraska basketball in March seems like a fairy tale dream land.Just a couple years ago, I lived vicariously through the eyes of a bandwagon Creighton fan, for obvious selfish reasons. Same reason why I spent a large chunk of my weekend hooked on Boston Celtics games on national TV.
