Tractor consumed by fire

A tractor was consumed by fire Thursday evening northeast of Aurora on 15 Road. Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Schneider reported that the tractor was fully engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived on the scene.

Mural dedication highlights community pride

Aurora’s newest and by far the largest outdoor art installation received a formal dedication last Wednesday, Oct. 25, and, while the weather did not cooperate for an outdoor event befitting the occasion, there was no lack of enthusiasm on the part of those in attendance.

Council approves plan for Hwy 34 approach onto Grant Street

The Aurora City Council gave the green light last week to have engineers begin planning for a new approach at the Highway 34 intersection with Grant Street, a project which could begin construction by spring or early summer of 2024.

Mitchell grateful for military training

Brett Mitchell’s life today as president of Fontel, Inc. in Aurora and a husband and father of two is markedly different from a few years ago when he was flying fighter jets in the U.S. Navy, but he says has no regrets about retiring early to come home to take over the family business.
