Balanced attack leads Aurora past Hastings

It didn't seem to matter which hand Aurora went to Thursday night at Hastings -- it was all working.
The Lady Huskies shared the ball with plenty of success, defeating Hastings in four sets, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-19.

Darbro punches ticket to state

There were a few tense moments for Aurora senior Riley Darbro after her round of 98 in the B-3 district meet Tuesday at Jackrabbit Run in Grand Island, but ended with a big smile.
Darbro fired a 52-46 for a 98, good enough for 9th place and a spot in next week's Class B state golf meet at Gering.

Hawks best Storm in triangular

Two area teams squared off Tuesday night as Hampton bested High Plains in two sets -- 27-25 and 25-19 in the final of a three-game triangular.
Hampton also defeated Meridian in two while the Mustangs beat High Plains in three.

Huskies beat McCook in rivalry renewed

The Aurora-McCook rivalry was dusted off Friday night and with only one shot at it, the Husky seniors made it their own.
Solid offensive execution alongside timely defensive stops lifted the Huskies over McCook in Bisonville 21-7 in a top 10 matchup.

Lady Huskies take fifth at conference meet in Holdrege

Riley Darbro claimed a medal and the Lady Huskies finished fifth in conference golf action Friday at the Holdrege Country Club.
It was the second trip to Holdrege in a week for the Aurora girls, though the team wasn’t able to play quite as well with conference competition on the line.

Aurora's season ends at subdistricts

It sure didn’t end the way it started, but the season Aurora softball put together was one the program hasn’t seen in some time.
Aurora suffered a pair of losses to Hastings and GICC at the B-8 subdistrict tournament in Hastings Monday, ending its season with a 14-13 record.

It was a solid week for area teams, going 3-1 as two of those won homecoming matchups.
Aurora renewed an old Class B rivalry, traveling to McCook and picking up its fourth win in a row, setting up a huge matchup with Class B No. 1 Hastings next Friday.

Bulldogs bite Aurora in four

The swings were fierce and momentum shifts aplenty Thursday night between Aurora and Class A's North Platte.
Even though the Lady Huskies had opportunities early, North Platte proved to be too much for Aurora as the Bulldogs won in four sets, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-12.
