Huskies double up Waverly at home

Both the Aurora boys and girls basketball teams gutted out home wins against Waverly Friday night.
The Lady Huskies needed an overtime session to defeat Waverly 56-52 while the boys team pulled the upset over Class B No. 4 Vikings, 41-33.

A delay of several days didn’t help High Plains much on the floor last week.
Its game against BDS in the opening round of the CRC tournament was supposed to be played Jan. 23, but a major winter storm that came through last week pushed it all the way to Jan. 27.

Saturday’s Central Conference championship bout between Aurora and Adams Central had all the makings for a heavyweight fight.
In the end, Adams Central delivered several knockout blows in a winning effort.

Adams Central was good from long range all night long and the scoreboard was proof.
The Patriots repeated as Central Conference champs with a 53-38 win over Aurora Saturday night.
Adams Central made eight three-pointers on the night and never looked back.

Husky grapplers win five individual golds

Aurora came back to the mat full speed ahead, winning five individual golds on its way to a 2nd place team finish Saturday at the Central Conference wrestling tournament at Adams Central.
The Huskies finished with 176.5 points, just behind Columbus Lakeview's 181.

The Huskies made eight 3-point shots in the first half as Aurora defeated Schuyler 53-38 Friday night in the Central Conference semifinals played on its home floor.

Aurora's girls entered Thursday's Central Conference semifinal matchup looking for an upset against York, but the Dukes were having none of it.
York took care of business on its home floor, defeating Aurora 53-31 to move on to the semifinals Friday night.

Giltner and Hampton squared off Saturday in the CRC tournament played at Shelby as Giltner’s defense held tough in a 40-11 win over the Hawks.
