Connor Smith had himself a highlight day on the mound for the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors squad.
Smith threw a complete seven-inning game and nearly pitched a shutout as Aurora defeated St. Paul 6-1 on the road June 1.
On 98 total pitches, Smith allowed one run on four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Aurora Cooperative Juniors coach Bodie Moeller was more than pleased with Smith’s efforts on the bump and explained that finding the zone was a big step in Smith’s success.
“One thing that we really stress is just throwing strikes and letting the defense work for you,” Moeller said. “So Connor did a great job of first just throwing strikes. He also did a great job of mixing up pitches and changing locations, and when you are able to do both of those things you can be really effective as a pitcher.”
