The High Plains boys team has given fans its monies worth so far in the early part of the season.  For the second time in as many games, the Storm won on the game’s final play, this time making a last-second shot to defeat Fullerton 48-47 Dec. 7.

Huskies terrorize Lakeview

Defensive pressure was a highlight for the Huskies Friday night.  Aurora held Columbus Lakeview to seven first-half points as the Huskies picked up a convincing 55-25 win over the Vikings.

The Aurora girls basketball team earned its first win of the season Friday night in comeback fashion.  Denae Nachtigal scored all 12 of her team-high points in the second half as Aurora picked up a 39-33 win at home.

Lady Huskies face stiff competition

Aurora’s start to the season was as tough as any.  The Lady Huskies welcomed a tall Adams Central team to Aurora for the season opener Thursday night before playing a ranked Wahoo team the following night.

Huskies tough out win against gritty Adams Central

There were times during Aurora’s season-opener Thursday against Adams Central where the Huskies looked like a team who hasn’t practiced much.  Well, they haven’t. Yet, the flashes of a good basketball team were there.

Lady Huskies compete at first girls event

For the first time in school history, a crop of Aurora girls wrestlers competed at Columbus Lakeview Friday, starting a new tradition at AHS.  The Lady Huskies finished second in the team race behind the host Lakeview Vikings in a five-team tournament.

Huskies win on opening night

Fresh off the football field, the Aurora boys basketball team had a few rough patches but found a groove in the second half.  Behind Tate Nachtigal's 19 points, the Huskies earned its first win of the season with a 45-33 win over Adams Central Thursday night to open the 2021-22 season.

Allen named Big Ten tight end of the year

A record-setting season has led to some postseason accolades for Austin Allen.  Allen was selected to the 1st team All-Big Ten by the media Wednesday and was also named the Big Ten tight end of the year.
Because of Aurora’s football success, the basketball program wasn’t able to practice as a full team until Nov. 24. Coach Kevin Asher is excited for the opportunity to take over the Huskies.

Aurora’s newest basketball coach is used to winning at the highest level. So are his players.  It’s the drive from each side that Kevin Asher believes will continue a winning tradition within the Aurora program.
