Aurora splits day one conference play

The beginning of the Central Conference tournament for the defending champ Aurora Huskies was a roller coaster ride. York gave them plenty of problems early, defeating Aurora in two, 25-18 and 25-20 before coming back to beat Lexington in the following match, 25-16 and 26-24.

Kuehner, Lady Huskies win gold

Elena Kuehner didn't have anyone to run with at Thursday's C-4 district race. That's because she dusted the field.  The Lady Husky senior won gold at the C-4 district event at Streeter Park in Aurora, winning the race by 26 seconds and helping Aurora to a district title as a team.

Aurora competes at state golf

Aurora's veteran golf team got one last opportunity to compete before rounding out the season.  The Lady Huskies competed in the Class B state golf tournament from Scottsbluff Country Club Monday and Tuesday with two completely different days of weather.

Huskies roll over Tigers for second district win

Coach Kyle Peterson has put an emphasis on getting off to a fast start this season and his Huskies responded in spades Friday, scoring 36 points in the first quarter en route to a dominating 43-14 district win over Hastings.

HPC Storm defeat Hampton in area showdown last week

A quick start was all High Plains needed last week.  Coming off a few days off, the Storm looked fresh in a two-set win over Hampton at the Meridian triangular, 25-20 and 25-20. Both the Hawks and Storm lost to the hosts, Meridian.

Aurora gave a whale of an effort, but it just wasn’t meant to be.  The Lady Huskies had upset on their minds Friday, but Bennington was too much to handle as the Badgers won the B-3 District softball title with wins of 6-4 and 10-0 to qualify for state and end Aurora’s season.

Friday night roundup week 7

The High Plains scoreboard operator was busy Friday night as the Storm's 86 points highlighted the area's performance in week seven.  The Storm won its third game this season in second in a row over Nebraska Lutheran 86-34 Friday, using eight total touchdowns from Javier Marino and Lane Urkoski.

Hastings rallies past Aurora in five

Senior night was full of wild momentum swings, tense moments and even a few light-hearted high fives with the kids.  Yet, by night's end, the visiting Hastings Tigers spoiled Aurora's night, defeating the Lady Huskies in five, 26-24, 13-25, 25-20, 25-27 and 15-11.
