Aurora went into its final contest before the holiday break at Norris with nothing to lose and everything to gain. It was the exact opposite for Class B No. 2 Norris.  The Lady Huskies played like it, too.

Scoring drought dooms Hawks in holiday tourney

Hampton certainly didn’t show signs of rust early on in its first game back from the five-day moratorium.  The final eight minutes, though, were a whole different story.

Coming off a five-day holiday break, Hampton’s girls basketball team got back in the gym Monday to prepare for its first home holiday tournament game later that afternoon.  Shots just weren’t falling, making coach Margo LaBrie a bit nervous.  “I just wanted to get the ball in their hands,” she said.

HPC Storm battle at competitive Platteview Invite Friday

High Plains competed last week with multiple schools much larger in size and had some success.  The Storm finished out the first part of the season before Christmas break at the Platteview Invite Friday, including schools from multiple classes all in one event.

Owens’ dream of college football now a reality at USD

Mack Owens has always wanted to be a football player. He’s certainly always looked like one.  Playing college football was the goal. That dream came true Dec. 15.

Lady Hawks survive late East Butler rally

Hampton coach Margo LaBrie was shocked looking at the damage East Butler did offensively in the fourth quarter.  The Tigers scored 28 points and completely erased a 13-point deficit.  Yet, LaBrie’s Lady Hawks found a way to gut out a home victory.

Aaron Jividen doesn't smile a lot, but he let out a small one when he marked off a career milestone Friday.  The Aurora senior picked up his 100th career victory in his opening round matchup at Platteview, on his way to a first place effort in the event at heavyweight.

Mack Owens has been committed to South Dakota since mid-August. His decision never wavered and was made official Wednesday.  Owens signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and football career at South Dakota and join the Coyote program as an inside linebacker on early signing day.
