A memorial service will be held on September 14, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Aurora at 4 p.m., followed by interment at the Aurora Cemetery. A BBQ and celebration of life will subsequently take place at Dawn and Heath’s shop at 621 13th Street in Aurora.

Myrna Lynn Schaffert, age 73, of Rogers, AR passed away on Wednesday, August 28 peacefully in her home after a 9-year battle with cancer. She was born in Alliance, lived in Grand Island and graduated from Aurora High School. After high school Lynn graduated from Grand Island Beauty School.

Laura R. Deets, age 67, of Pleasanton, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Mount Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church with Jim Wilson officiating.

Donald Davis, 94, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7 at United Methodist Church in Aurora.   Inurnment will be in Aurora Cemetery. No Visitation.

Valeria Mae Gustafson, age 81, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024 at the Beaver City Manor in Central City. She was born on April 8, 1943 to William and Matilda (Reimers) Nesiba in Farwell.Val enjoyed painting, gardening and loved being a  wife, mother and grandmother.

James 'Jim' Oswald

James ‘Jim’ Paul Oswald, of Aurora, passed away August 22, 2024 at the age of 84.Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 29 at Aurora Evangelical Free Church, 1202 A Street, Aurora. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m.

Patricia Andersen

Patricia Dorlene Andersen died suddenly on July 27, 2024 in Boise, Idaho. She was born December 26, 1948 in Grand Island to Elwood Dorland Andersen and Ramona Jane (Roper) Andersen.  She grew up in Marquette, attending St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.

Barb Graham, age 76, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, at Memorial Community Care.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Grace Bible Fellowship at 2518 23rd Avenue, Central City. Rev. Clint Chiles will officiate. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Shirley Snyder

Shirley Snyder, age 89, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Memorial Community Care.Shirley’s wishes were to be cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 23 at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.   Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Donald Coute Sr.

Donald Norbert Coute, Sr., 96, a recent resident of Aurora, passed away on August 9, 2024 at the Genoa Long Term Care Home.Donald was the eldest son of Jesse D. Coute and Arlene G. Callory, and was born on June 6, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts.
