Elizabeth Mary Heuermann was born December 8, 1928 on the family farm east of Phillips. She was the 4th child born to Bernard Benjamin and Maggie Hartnell Heuermann.
Beth received her education at District 86; Phillips High School graduating with the class of 1946; Bryan Hospital School of Nursing, Lincoln, in 1950, she attended The Baylor School of Anesthesia in 1955 and graduated with Distinction in 1957, an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Harvey Illinois Junior College in 1971 and a Bachelor of Science in Genealogy and Masters of Science in Library and Information Science at Brigham Young University, Utah in August 1975. Hired as a research librarian for Schick Sunn Classic Films, working on the “Grizzly Adams” television series. She edited their book “The Lincoln Conspiracy.”
In 1980 Beth started working for the Utah State Department of Health Medicaid program doing review and quality assurance for hospital admissions, case reviews and the fraud and abuse unit, retiring from there in February of 1994.
Growing up Beth heard many stories of the Masters/Heuermann families living in the Arlington area. She put her genealogy studies to work. She and sister Dorothy made two trips to England and an extended trip through Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, looking for more “roots, branches and twigs” on our family tree.
Beth returned to Nebraska to live permanently, first in Lincoln then moved to Grand Island to Primrose Retirement Community Independent Living. Health issues multiplied. She celebrated her 96th birthday with nearby nieces and nephews and a dresser top of cards sent from coast to coast by those unable to be with her. Beth departed this earth on December 18 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center with niece/nurse Cheryl by her side.
She is survived by brother, Keith Heuermann and his wife Norma of Grand Island; sister Alma Rohlfing and husband Norman of Talmage and a multitude of nieces, nephews and their children. She is also survived by special cousin Jenny Ridd Marsden from England.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy (Darren) Nelson and Martha (Ralph) Knobel and brother, Gene (Marilyn) Heuermann.
