Laurie "LaRie" Goertzen

Laurie “LaRie” Goertzen, age 85, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10 at the Aurora United Methodist Church.  Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.  Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery.

Larry Van Bibber

Larry Van Bibber, age 82, of Aurora, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 in Grand Island. Larry was born on Oct. 16, 1938, in Grand Island. On May 1, 1987, he married Jean Van Bibber. Larry is survived by his wife, Jean of Aurora; three children; 10 grandchildren; many cousins and friends.

Shawna Michalski-Wengler

Shawna Michalski-Wengler, age 46, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at her home. Shawna’s wishes were to be cremated.  The family will hold a celebration of life at a future date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie Rudy

Bonnie N. Rudy, age 93, of Harvard, formerly of Giltner, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Harvard Rest Haven. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 5 at Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate.  Burial will be in Giltner Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Dale Patton

Dale Patton, age 90, of Aurora, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Bryan/LGH West in Lincoln. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aurora. The Rev. Loras Grell will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Aurora Catholic Cemetery.

Bertha "Bert" Troester

Bertha “Bert” Mae Holtorf was born the 3rd child to Carl and Mildred (Randahl) Holtorf on May 3, 1944 in Central City.  She attended District #94 for 2 years, then Hordville schools where she graduated in 1962.  She attended KU for 2 years and graduated Grand Island School of Business.

Evelyn Behrends

Evelyn Behrends, age 98, of Giltner passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Hampton. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29 at the Christian Resource Center (CRC) near Giltner. Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate.

Thomas Wanek

Thomas K. Wanek, age 87, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aurora. The Rev. Loras Grell and Rev. Chris Barak will be the Celebrants. Burial will be in St.

Wilbur Ruebsamen

Word has been received of the death of Wilbur Ruebsamen, brother of Neil Ruebsamen of Aurora. Wilbur was born and raised on a farm south of Giltner graduating with the class of 1955. He then went to UNL and graduated in 1960 in the ROTC with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Rolland and Dorothy Bamesberger

Rolland John Bamesberger passed away January 14, 2021 at his home at Johnson Lake, at the age of 95. He was born in rural Hamilton County, August 3, 1925 to John and Elizabeth (Troester) Bamesberger.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
