Connie Shaneyfelt

Connie Shaneyfelt, age 74, of Aurora, died Friday, May 7, 2021, at Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Pastor Penny Schulz will officiate. There will be no visitation.  Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family for future designation.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.
Constance Jo Shaneyfelt, the daughter of Robert E. and Bernice I. (Andersen) Nielsen, was born in Lincoln, on November 19, 1946 and died in Aurora, on May 7, 2021, at the age of 74.
Connie grew up in Aurora and attended Aurora Public Schools.  While a teen, she worked detasseling, baby-sitting, strawberry picking as well as working the counter at Fair Acres Ice Cream, a secretary at her dad’s office and a waitress at Al’s Pastry Shop.  She graduated from Aurora High School in 1964 and attended West Mar College in Le Mars, Iowa for one semester.
Connie married Mark Shaneyfelt on June 12, 1965 in Aurora.  She helped Mark build and remodel houses.  She was well known as a Child Care Provider working from 1969 to December 2015.  She was an active church member at the First Christian Church including a Nursery Attendant there for 30 years.
She was an Aurora Lion’s Club member as well as a past President and co-founder of the Hamilton County Child Care Provider’s Association.  When her son was a scout, she served as a Cub Scout Leader.  She also held a yearly Mini March for Cystic Fibrosis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Dean and Virginia Shaneyfelt; and brother-in-law, William Shaneyfelt.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mark; daughter April (John) Campbell of Aurora; son Paul (Launa Fuller) of Grand Island; daughters Danielle Shaneyfelt and Anna (Carl Hamm) Shaneyfelt, all of Aurora; grandsons Richard (Amanda) Shaneyfelt of Omaha, Michael (Stacia) Shaneyfelt of Grand Island, Ryan Campbell of Aurora, Isaac Shaneyfelt of Lincoln, and Aaron Campbell of Aurora; great-grandchildren Saige, Silas and Skyler Shaneyfelt of Omaha and Cailyn, Addison, and Jaxson Shaneyfelt of Grand Island; brothers Gary (Marcia) Nielsen of Omaha and Greg (Marcia) Nielsen of Aurora; sister-in-law Sandra Shaneyfelt of Castle Rock, CO; 6 nephews and 1 niece; Also, one aunt, Martha Watson of Kennewick, WA and one uncle, Sheldon (Janet) Andersen of Medicine Lake, MT.
