Staehr sets another triple jump record

Carsen Staehr didn’t, at first glance, look very impressed with his opening triple jump attempt. His second attempt has never been done in an Aurora uniform. The Aurora senior broke his own school record again in the triple jump, soaring to a 47-11.50 mark at Thursday’s Norris Invite.

Aurora didn’t have too many days on the golf course a year ago when the weather cooperated. There were no complaints about Mother Nature from the players or patrons Friday, however.

Hawks compete at McCool Junction

The Hawks got its first taste of outdoor competition alongside McCool Junction and Exeter-Milligan in a triangular battle March 22. Korbin Stump was a runner-up finisher in both the shot and discus while Brayden Dose took third in the high jump.

Staehr, Huskies highlight home invite

Carsen Staehr nearly picked up right where he left off from last season. In Aurora’s first outdoor meet of the spring season, a home invite, Staehr swept the long and triple jumps, doing so not far off from his best marks.

2018 repeats as Aurora alumni champs

by Richard Rhoden The Class of 2018 may have started a new dynasty. For the second year in a row, the Class of 2018 was crowned Aurora alumni champs, defeating the Class of 2008/10 in the finals 39-29 Sunday afternoon.

Aurora rally falls short in Schuyler

The Aurora girls soccer team dug a huge hole it nearly crawled out of in less than 20 minutes. The Lady Huskies trailed Schuyler 3-0 before a ferocious comeback, scoring two goals in the span of nearly three minutes, but couldn’t get the equalizer in a 3-2 loss Monday evening.

Potent Schuyler attack too much for Huskies in opener

Aurora’s boys entered the 2023 spring soccer season riding a wave of confidence. Aurora coach Madison Farris is hopeful that confidence won’t waver after just one game. The Huskies ran into a buzz saw Monday evening as Schuyler blanked Aurora on the scoreboard, 7-0, in a makeup game from Thursday.

Williams takes over HPC track program for 2023 season

Darius Williams is a relationship guy. His experiences growing up athletically shaped his future into a coach. After a couple years as an assistant, Williams is taking over the High Plains track program in 2023. He has also been an assistant for the Storm football team over that same span.

A kid from small-town Aurora lived out another one of his dreams while another came true for a second time.

The 34th edition of the Bill Kropp and Curly Penner Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament is set for tipoff Saturday morning with a new returning champion.  The Class of 2018 dethroned the Class of 2002 53-40 in the finale a year ago for its first win in the event.
