Nineteen hours after its game was originally suspended for weather, Giltner’s football team huddled around coach Dane McConnell.Darkness and lightning was replaced by a sun-splashed Saturday afternoon as the Hornets returned to its home field.Beforehand, however, McConnell had a simple message.

Nate Boerkircher’s football career changed in a big way during the spring, in a way he never imagined.In front of all of his Husker brethren, new Nebraska coach Matt Rhule announced the former Husky was being placed on scholarship. It was a shock, awe and emotional moment for Boerkircher.
