High Plains urges caution in comparing state test score data

High Plains Community School Supt. Kim Beran reflected on the district’s performance in statewide testing results made public last week, noting that the numbers offer a baseline of data included among several other factors when developing student instruction plans.

HPC Storm battle at competitive Platteview Invite Friday

High Plains competed last week with multiple schools much larger in size and had some success.  The Storm finished out the first part of the season before Christmas break at the Platteview Invite Friday, including schools from multiple classes all in one event.

The High Plains boys team has given fans its monies worth so far in the early part of the season.  For the second time in as many games, the Storm won on the game’s final play, this time making a last-second shot to defeat Fullerton 48-47 Dec. 7.

High Plains honors those who served

High Plains Community students young and old gathered in one place Thursday to honor local heroes.  HPC hosted its annual Veterans Day program with plenty of local heroes present, taking a moment from a busy day to stop, reflect and honor.

HPC Storm qualifies for back-to-back district final games

Before 2020, High Plains had never made it to a district final game in volleyball. Now, they’ve qualified in back-to-back years.  The Lady Storm earned their way in, winning the D2-3 subdistrict final over Osceola in front of a home crowd Oct. 26, doing so in three sets.

Area teams set for district finals

Two area teams will compete Saturday for a spot in next week's state volleyball tournament in Lincoln.  Aurora (15-18) will play an all-too-familiar opponent, taking on Grand Island Northwest (23-11) Saturday at 11 a.m. in GI.

High Plains ends Giltner’s season at D2-3 subdistricts

HPC’s march toward a potential first-ever trip to the state volleyball tournament started off nearly perfect Monday night.  The Lady Storm made quick work of Giltner, defeating the Hornets in three sets 25-19, 25-9 and 25-20 at home to start the D2-3 subdistrict tournament.
