The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department responded to two fires caused by owners who had burn permits having embers from piles sparking out-of-control fires on Friday afternoon.

Tuesday morning saw the Hamilton County Courthouse play host to its first murder case since 1989.  Escorted by law enforcement, suspect Jeffrey Adams entered the Hamilton County Court courtroom and was met by a full house.

Saturday saw sunshine and heat at local Marquette organic farming industry leader Grain Place Foods’ annual field day. The event, complete with tour, lunch, speakers and an art feature was well attended.

Release via Merrick County Sheriff's Office:  On Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at approximately 5:25 a.m.. emergency crews were dispatched to the area of US Hwy 30 approximately one-half mile west of F Road to investigate the report of a two-vehicle collision.

Firefighters from Marquette, Aurora, Hampton and Central City gathered in the bitter cold Friday morning, Jan. 21, in an effort to battle a fully-involved house fire on Marquis Ave. The call went out sometime before 2:30 a.m., followed by a call for mutual aid.
Several power poles were downed across the county in last week’s storm, including on 6 Road east of Giltner.
