The fourth play of the game proved pivotal in a district title showdown between Aurora and Central City Friday, which the Huskies won 27-12 to make it six wins in a row for a team that heads into the playoffs on a roll.

For the last time, Aurora’s Ella Eggleston competed at the state cross country championships while finishing 43rd at 20:48, the best time she’s ever ran in the event.

The 2025 cross country season ended on a bittersweet note for the Lady Huskies who competed in the Class B Championships in Kearney Friday afternoon.The team didn’t take home any state medals this year, finishing as the 10th overall team in the girls Class B race with 173 points.

Hampton has a ticket to the D6 playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, set to host Wallace Friday. It’s the first home playoff game for the Hawks since 2009.

With profound resilience, the Lady Huskies earned the runner-up spot in the B-4 district cross country meet Thursday afternoon at the Overton Golf Club.Seward won the title with 22 points, followed by Aurora with 35 points and Crete being the last state-qualifying team with 56 points.

Aurora extended its winning streak to five consecutive games Friday with a dominating 49-14 victory over Milford, setting up a head-to-head district title bout with unbeaten Central City in the regular season finale.

Jayden Slagle was the sole state-qualifer from Aurora in the B-4 district, placing fourth with a time of 16:53. Slagle will be competing in the state meet on Friday.
